Wolverine Human Services

Objective: Serve children, families, donors, and staff from one web presence

Wolverine Human Services is a Michigan nonprofit that helps children and families through residential treatment, foster care and adoption, and community programs. Its website has to work for families looking for help, for people who want to foster or donate, for job seekers, and for its own employees, all at once.

Web Ascender has been the organization’s web partner since 2013, building its websites, launching sites for new initiatives, and keeping everything current day to day.

What Web Ascender Did

The main website, three generations

• 2013 - a new website with events, press releases, contact forms, and training for the Wolverine team
• 2016 - a larger rebuild with foster care and adoption landing pages, an online employment application, an online store, and event pages
• 2019 - a full redesign with simpler navigation, news and press sections, and pathways for residential treatment, foster care, and employment opportunities

Sites for specific initiatives

As Wolverine launched new programs and community efforts, we built sites to support them, each designed for its own audience and goals:

• An urban orchard in Detroit - a site with an online shop, events, volunteer sign-ups, newsletters, and email list integration
• A community program site - board member profiles, events, and member registration
• A membership site - paid memberships and subscriptions, an events calendar, user accounts, reliable email delivery, and training for the program’s staff

Marketing for its counseling centers

• Managed digital marketing for Michigan Counseling Centers - Google Ads campaigns across 13 ad groups for the services people search for, consultation landing pages, blog content, annual reviews, and ongoing website support

Day-to-day support

• Always current - job openings, announcements, fundraising events, a donate button, COVID-19 updates, employee resources, and press releases, handled as the organization needs them

The Outcome

For thirteen years, Wolverine Human Services has had one partner for its websites, from the main site through three generations to sites for initiatives as they come and go. Families, donors, job seekers, and staff each find what they need, and the team behind the mission doesn’t have to worry about the web.
