Objective: Bring the showroom online
Jim’s Amish Structures is a family-owned Michigan business with a simple promise: Amish handcrafted sheds and outdoor structures, delivered fully built to your backyard. Jim Goble founded the company in 1990 and moved it to Michigan in 1992, and his son James has worked alongside him for more than twenty years. From showrooms in St. Johns and Chelsea, they sell storage sheds, garages, metal pole barns and carports, gazebos, pergolas and pavilions, playsets, chicken coops and horse barns, and outdoor furniture, with free standard delivery across most of Michigan and service into Indiana and Ohio.
Buying a shed is a big, visual decision. Customers want to see what’s on the lot, picture a building in their own colors and sizes, and know what it will cost before they drive out. Jim’s needed a website that could do all of that, one that sells as hard as the showroom does. Web Ascender had built their previous site and its original custom shed configurator, and in 2022 Jim’s asked us to take the whole experience to the next level.
What Web Ascender Did
- A bold, product-first redesign on WordPress - deep navy, warm wood tones, and Jim’s signature yellow, with big photography of real buildings and a layout that puts “In-stock sheds” and “Design your own shed” front and center on every visit
- Shoppable in-stock inventory - more than a hundred structures on the lots at any time, browsable online with photos, specs, and pricing so customers can find a building that’s ready to deliver this week
- A full suite of 3D design and quoting tools - customers configure their own shed from more than thirty models, design a metal garage, pole barn, or carport, build a gazebo, pergola, or pavilion, or lay out a vinyl playset, choosing sizes, siding, colors, roofing, doors, and options with a live 3D preview and an accurate quote at the end
- Product search and structured catalog - every category from animal housing to outdoor living organized so shoppers can move from browsing to building in a click
- Locations, hours, and sale promotions built in - both showrooms, their hours, and current promotions like the metal pole barn sale are easy for the Jim’s team to update
- Managed hosting, security, and plugin updates - Web Ascender hosts the site, keeps WordPress and its plugins current, and handles security and uptime, while the Jim’s team runs all of the day-to-day content
The Outcome
Jim’s Amish Structures now has a website that works like its best salesperson. Shoppers can see everything in stock, design a structure to their exact taste, and get a price without picking up the phone, so the conversations that reach the showroom are further along and more likely to close. The Jim’s team keeps inventory, promotions, and content current on their own, and Web Ascender keeps the site secure, fast, and online behind the scenes.
In 2024, organic search traffic from April to September was up 139% over the same months of 2023 (20,455 to 48,930 sessions), and the site drew more than 100,000 visits and 3,297 form submissions over the year.
It’s a relationship that spans two generations of the site, from the original custom shed configurator to today’s full design-and-quote experience, and we’re still building with Jim’s today.
