Objective: Help customers figure out what to order, and how much
Hammond Farms Landscape Supply has served Mid-Michigan since 1982. It sells bark mulch, soils and compost, sands and gravel, landscape and natural stone, ballfield materials, pavers and retaining walls, ice melt, lighting, firewood, and tools from five locations: DeWitt, Dimondale, East Lansing, Grand Ledge, and Mason. It also takes yard waste and food waste, and delivers.
Homeowners and contractors come to the website with the same questions: what do you carry, how much do I need, which location is closest, and can you deliver it? Hammond Farms needed a site that answers those questions quickly and sends customers on to order, call, or visit.
What Web Ascender Did
We kicked off in January 2025 and launched in March.
- Research and planning - keyword and competitor research, audience and goal research, and a new sitemap
- Wireframes and design - wireframes for every page, then homepage and inner page designs refined over several rounds of review
- A product catalog - every material organized into categories, with a page for each product showing photos, pricing by the yard and the bag, and a link to the calculator
- An online material calculator - Hammond Farms’ existing cubic yard calculator brought into the new site as a plugin, then rebuilt in 2026 with new settings, so customers can enter the shape and size of a bed and see how much material to order
- Written content - about, delivery, customer pickup assistance, yard waste drop off, resources, FAQs, testimonials, and contact pages, plus a page for each location
- A simple path to buy - every page leads to a phone call, a visit, or a delivery request, with locations, hours, and the calculator in the header
- Launch and training - a staging site, a go-live checklist, and training for the team
Since Launch
We keep the site current through the seasons: holiday hours and banners, price updates, pavers and retaining wall products, new ice melt and bulk salt products for winter, and location notices on specific products. In 2026 we added a blog, a resources section, a “yards of mulch sold” counter and customer testimonials on the homepage, refreshed the header and fonts, and rebuilt the material calculator.
The Outcome
Hammond Farms customers can browse materials, work out how much they need, and move straight to ordering, delivery, or a visit to the nearest yard. The team has a partner who keeps the site up to date as the seasons, prices, and product lineup change.
