Mobile App Development

Cross-platform mobile applications that put your business in your customer's pocket - native when you need it, web when you don't.

Back in 2010, building mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android felt like the 1850s gold rush. The story is very different today. In many cases you can now create a mobile experience that feels just as smooth through a web browser - which means we can build great mobile software faster than ever.

Native or web: the right tool for the job

In many cases a mobile experience can feel just as smooth through a web browser. Whether you need truly native or a progressive web app will do the trick, we've got you covered.

  • Native apps

Built for iPhone and Android when you need deep hardware access, offline performance, or an app-store presence.

Why it matters Taps straight into the camera, GPS, and other device features.

  • Progressive web apps

A fast, installable, cross-platform experience without maintaining separate codebases.

Why it matters We can use rapid web tools to deliver in a fraction of the time.

  • Hybrid approaches

Share logic across platforms, so one codebase serves both iPhone and Android.

Why it matters Stretches your budget further without giving up the native feel.

What our mobile apps do for businesses

When a prospect is comparing you to the competition, a great mobile experience could be the difference that wins the deal.

  • Arm your sales team

Always-current sales materials in the field, on the device that's always in their hand.

Why it matters Your team shows up with the latest information, every time.

  • Connect to your machines

Customers connected to custom-manufactured machines, with our IoT team linking app and hardware.

Why it matters Your product becomes smarter and easier to use.

  • Simplify complex work

Complex workflows brought down to a few taps for your field teams and customers.

Why it matters The easier it is to do business with you, the more often you win.

Applications that fit in your pocket

In 2010 we were building a ton of mobile applications, and it was glorious. A software experience tailored specifically to the device let us take advantage of native conventions and tap straight into the camera, accelerometer, GPS, and other hardware features. At the time, a native app was the only way to make an experience feel great on a phone. Today, the mobile story is very different.

We choose the technology for each project. For mobile, these are the ones we reach for most:

  • Ionic
  • Expo
  • React Native
  • Flutter (Dart)
  • Native Swift
  • Native Kotlin
  • Progressive web apps

Built on a solid foundation

Most of our mobile work is paired with a web application or business information system on the back end - and when your app needs to talk to physical hardware, our IoT development team connects the two. It’s all part of one team, building one cohesive product.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a native app or will a web app work?
Often a progressive web app delivers a fast, installable experience across iPhone and Android without maintaining separate codebases. We go native when you need deep hardware access, offline performance, or an app store presence, and we will recommend the right fit on a discovery call.
What kinds of mobile apps do you build?
Sales team tools for the field, customer and dealer apps, service and support apps, and mobile front ends for custom business systems, mostly for industrial and B2B companies.
Do you build the backend too?
Yes. Most of our mobile apps are paired with a backend and API that we build alongside the app, so data flows to your other systems. We choose the backend technology that fits the project, such as Ruby on Rails or Node.js.
Which technologies do you use for mobile apps?
We are technology agnostic. For cross-platform apps we primarily use Ionic and Expo, which let one codebase serve both iPhone and Android, and we also build with React Native and Flutter (Dart). We build native apps in Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android when a project needs deep hardware access, and progressive web apps when a browser-based, installable experience is enough.
Do you build apps for companies in Michigan?
Yes. We are based in the Lansing area and build mobile applications for companies throughout Michigan and the United States.
